Commercial Cookware - Heavy Duty and Built to Last a Lifetime

Commercial cookware is heavy duty cookware that is designed to be used a great deal, day in and day out. When chefs go to buy this cookware they have specific needs that have to be met.

One of the needs they require is their cookware to be a heavy anodized cooking surface. This type of cooking surface makes cooking easier as it prevents the food from sticking to the bottom of the pan.

Another thing chefs look for in commercial grade cookware is the type of metal it is made up. A good quality set of cookware will have quality metal that heats up fast and evenly. This will cut down on cooking time, complaints from the customers about taking so long to be served and helps with cooking the food completely.

A good quality set of commercial cookware will come in a variety of sizes. Small frying pans, large frying pans, broilers, small pots and stew pots and more to accommodate the wide variety of food that will need to be cooked.

When looking for a good set of commercial grade cookware you need to look at its versatility. Can the cookware go from stove to table? There will be times when you don't want to put the food in another dish to serve it. That is why you need cookware that is heavy duty for the stove but also looks good on the table.

When looking for your own set of commercial grade cookware you will find there are many different types available. One thing that most of them have in common is they are made of stainless steel.

Stainless steel is one of the most durable materials and is the preferred choice for heavy duty cookware. But stainless steel by itself presents problems. Uneven heat dispersal is one of the main problems.

So how can you overcome this problem when looking for stainless steel commercial grade cookware?

Look for stainless steel cookware that is lined with a secondary metal. Most of your better quality stainless cookware will be lined with copper or aluminum. This secondary metal will cause even heating and will help stop the food from sticking.

Commercial grade stainless steel cookware costs more but will be worth it in the long run. It will stand up to being heated to high temperatures and then being cooled rapidly several times a day. It will take abuse and still stand up to whatever you put to it and in it.

Tres-Leches-Cake-Recipe-Video

Tres leches cake is one of the moistest cakes you'll ever taste. And this recipe is incredibly easy. Find more easy recipes like this one at www.TheIronChefMom.com. For this tres leches cake recipe, you will need 1 18.25 oz. yellow cake mix 3 large eggs 1 cup water 1/4 cup vegetable oil 12 oz. can evaporated milk (whole, low fat or fat free are all fine) 14 oz. can sweetened condensed milk 1 cup whole milk Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Place the cake mix, eggs, water and oil in a large mixing bowl and blend with an electric mixer, stopping to scrape down the sides. Then finishing beating until smooth. Pour the batter into a greased 9 x 13 pan (I actually just sprayed it with cooking spray), and bake 30-40 minutes until golden brown. While the cake is baking, pour the evaporated milk, sweetened condensed milk and whole milk into a small mixing bowl, and stir them together until the mixture is a uniform texture. When the cake comes out of the oven, poke holes in it all over with a straw or skewer, like this. Now pour the three milk mixture over the cake, so that it sinks into the holes. You can tilt the pan a little to help the milk mixture go in evenly. Ok, refrigerate the cake at least 2 hours. Now make the frosting, you'll need a pint of heavy cream or whipping cream. Pour the heavy cream into a cold bowl. I place it in the freezer to make sure it's cold. Use an electric mixer or whisk to beat the cream until it becomes thick, like this. Now add 2-4 Tbsp. of sugar to ...

Grape Salad With Brown Sugar Pecan Topping

A delicious fruit salad that can be used for a party, baby or wedding shower, holiday meal or any get together. It makes a lot. This would be even be appropriate for a tail gate party, if kept chilled. 4 pounds of seedless grapes, red and green mixture or whatever combination you desire, washed and drained 8 ounces sour cream 8 ounces softened cream cheese ½ cup granulated sugar 1 tsp. vanilla extract Topping: 1 cup packed brown sugar 1 cup chopped pecans, or whatever other nut you desire, such as walnuts, almonds, etc. In a small bowl, mix brown sugar and chopped pecans and set aside. In a large bowl, mix together cream cheese, sugar, sour cream and vanilla until blended. I used an electric hand mixer. Stir in grapes. Cover with the topping and chill for at least 2 hours. Note: I didn't use all the topping. It makes a lot and you may want to only make half of the recipe for the topping.

How to Synchronize Christmas Lights Display With Music

Every year, it would seem that the holiday season celebrations are becoming earlier than usual. You would see a lot of Christmas decorations and lights being put up on various installations. There is, however, one type of these decorations that stand out above the rest and these are the Christmas lights display that dances in sync with Christmas music. One would be able to set your lights display to dance to the tune of your favorite Christmas music and definitely be amazed at the graceful and well-timed flickering of brilliant colors amidst a beautiful landscape.

You may have seen these synchronized Christmas displays and also would want to have one for your home. You can actually buy synchronized Christmas display and music kits from various electronic stores in order for you to have the holiday decorations that you wanted. Setting it up is a cinch and would only require a little bit of your time to connect the kit to your computer, install the software, then attach the lights to the provisioned part of the kit.

First, you must determine how you would want your display to appear. Try to outline the position of your Christmas lights on paper so that you would know where exactly would the wires go. It is also important to keep the Christmas lights off the paths where it can be trampled upon by members of your family

Next, decide on how many channels you should have. A channel can easily handle up to a thousand Christmas lights and so even four channels would suffice and do wonders for your synchronized Christmas lights display. While you can develop your own kit for a lesser price, it is always a good idea to just settle for a ready to use synchronized Christmas lights display and music kit if this is your first foray into this type of holiday decoration.

The good thing about this out of the box kit is it already comes with a software application for your music and lighting effects control. It also comes with several pre-programmed music with its special effects so that all you have to do is just to plug it in your computer, attach the lights to the kit, and you can immediately enjoy a fabulous synchronized display. You can purchase a complete synchronized Christmas lights display and music kit for about twenty dollars per channel.

Finally, you can also select and program your own Christmas music and effects using the software application that came with the synchronized Christmas lights display and music kit. Having this type of Christmas decoration would surely liven up your holiday and earn the appreciation of your family.

Outdoor Grills, Ovens, and Stoves for Cooking Turkey

There are a lot of ways to cook turkey. One of the cooking processes is known as grilling. Grilling is becoming the most popular methods of cooking turkey and one of the healthiest as well. The grilling process allows fat to drip away from the turkey as it cooks, keeping the meat nutritious and full of flavor.

Aside from that, turkey has numerous ways and methods to be cooked, utilizing different cooking equipment such as the oven and the ever popular microwave. Here we offer you different methods that can be used for cooking turkey.

Here are some varieties of grills available in the market, as well as the basic instructions to properly use them..

Covered Charcoal Grill

First, you must have well prepared and clean equipment for this and good quality charcoal. Put up a pyramid of charcoal on one side. Set fire to the charcoal until it gets red hot. Place a thermometer on the food rack to check the temperature of the grill. This will give the cook an exact reading of the meat's temperature when cooking.

In the center of the grill where the turkey will be placed, carefully arrange the charcoal around the edge evenly. Place the grill rack and set the prepared turkey on it. The turkey's breast should be side-up. Simply maintain its temperature. Then cover the grill. If you want, you can add seasonings for the turkey to have flavor as it is cooking. Do not ever use softwood like cedar and pine because it gives the food a different taste and makes the turkey's skin turn black.

When the inner thigh temperature reads 180 degree Fahrenheit, the turkey is ready. That is why it is very important to use a food thermometer.

Covered gas Grill

The gas grill can be provided by using either propane tanks or natural gas. If your gas grill has only one burner, a water pan should be placed under the grate to create indirect heat. If you have two or three burners, make sure the turkey is placed away from the flame. This is done by turning off one burner and placing the turkey in that area.

Aside from grilling, you can also roast turkey by using the oven.

Turkey can be successfully cooked in whole or in parts using the microwave oven. But sometimes it is not advisable to cook it whole because it makes the turkey cook unevenly. The turkey may not be cooked to the proper internal temperature. Full size microwave ovens with 650 to 700 watts can only accommodate a small turkey ranging 8 to 10 pounds.

Given that metal thermometers cannot be used here, merely check when the cooking is completed. Insert an instant read thermometer on different parts of the turkey.

Electric Roaster Oven

This appliance serves as an extra oven for cooking a large roast.

Heat the oven first to about 325 degrees Fahrenheit. Then place the turkey on a oven rack or any other meat rack for the turkey to be kept out the juices that collect in the bottom of the oven. Leave the cover throughout cooking, removing it as little as possible to avoid the slowing of the cooking process. Check the internal temperature of the inner thigh until it reaches to 180 degrees Fahrenheit.

Oven cooking bag method

This is one of the safest methods in roasting turkey. It is a delicious alternative to the traditional way of cooking turkey.

Pre-heat the oven using an oven-cooking bag to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. A tablespoon of dry flour should be shaken around to coat the empty bag to avoid bursting. The pan must be large enough for the turkey to sit easily in the center. Allocate space for the bag to enlarge during cooking so that it will not touch any part of the oven or it will melt.

A meat thermometer is inserted right through the thickest part of the plastic to know if the temperature of the turkey's thigh reaches 180 degrees Fahrenheit.

Any of these methods of cooking your turkey will result in a delicious meal.

Free Standing Gas Cooker - Things to Know

Although you might be ecstatic or excited about whipping up any sumptuous meal for treating your family using free standing gas cookers, you must have the basic know how about a cooker. Consider the following safety tips for getting the most out of your gas cooker.

Open up

You have to use your gas cooker in a well ventilated room. And in instances when you haven't any exhaust/extractor fan, you've got to ensure all your windows are sufficiently open prior to even turning on your cooker. Did you know that your cooker emits odor during the initial usage? This odor comes out of the moisture that the cooker's insulator absorbs.

Where to install?

Usually, freestanding cookers are installed in and around the diner, kitchen, and/or bed sitting areas. You could also install your cooker between your cabinets and the corner setting. If it's possible you should install a suitable material which is heat resistant, near your freestanding cooker. It should be around 150mm in size. Make sure that the wall at the back of the cooker is flameproof or fireproof material.

Adapting to diverse gas types

To begin with, get rid of that rating sticker which indicates the category/type of gas your cooker is meant or manufactured for. Request a new sticker. You could get it from the retailer/accredited service repairing centers.

Finally, check the pressure regulator which is suited here. Ensure that your free standing cooker is able to manage the recommended pressure for the type of gas you are about to use.

About the Countertop Microwave Oven

One of the most high-tech kitchen appliances found in most homes today is the countertop microwave oven. The technology that gave birth to this modern marvel is radar. One day, a technician from Raytheon was fiddling with an active radar set when he found out that a piece of chocolate bar that was in range was melting. The microwave radiation emitted by the radar was cooking the candy bar! As a fruit of this accidental discovery (or invention?), the world's first microwave oven came into being. Compared to today's compact countertop microwaves, the Radarange was a monster that weighed 340 kilograms and cost 5,000 dollars each.

After its discovery in 1945, is an indispensable kitchen tool for most families who are hard pressed for time. Innovations added to most modern units dispel the notion that microwave oven cooking produces bland and boring results. For example, a convection microwave oven combines the speed of microwave cooking with the ability to brown foods. Other ovens have high powered halogen bulbs that heat the surface of the food at high temperatures using infrared radiation thus adding browning abilities to the oven.

Most countertop microwave ovens have settings that control the oven's power level. Internally, the magnetron that is the source of the oven's microwave energy has only one level of power output, what the power setting control does is to turn the magnetron on and off depending on the power setting chosen. So if one wants higher power output, the magnetron works in longer duty cycles. The magnetron can be heard if it is working when the humming sound in the oven changes.

There are three size categories of countertop microwave. The smaller model is labeled by the industry as portable or desktop units. The most common size is about 11 inches tall and 15 inches wide and about 10 inches deep. The bigger countertop model is called the compact microwave oven. These ovens are at least 20 inches wide, 14 inches deep and 12 inches tall. Compact size models are the most popular ovens. The largest oven which can still be considered countertop microwaves is called the medium-capacity oven. These models are a bit larger than the compact ovens and have capacities from 30 to 45 liters.

The most important safety feature when cooking using microwave oven is that there is considerably lower risk of scalding and burning. For example, the walls of the oven rarely get burning hot unlike conventional ovens. The container used in cooking the food rarely gets hotter than 100 degrees, or the boiling point of water. A cooking pot fresh from the gas range or an electric stove is considerably hotter and always poses the danger of creating 1st degree burns. The lower cooking temperature lowers the chances of food getting charred which have been identified to be cancer causing.

The fast cooking time and compact space occupied by countertop microwave ovens make it one of the most popular kitchen appliances. No wonder then most of today's busy families have one at home.

Microwave Ovens

One of the most useful cooking devices ever introduced in contemporary times is the microwave oven. Those who find cooking a tedious job and are running out of time for cooking will find microwave ovens the most effective device. Cooking has never been so simple, less time consuming, and efficient. Ovens trim down the cooking time noticeably from hours to minutes! You need not use much oil and your food does not evaporate into the air when being cooked, so you get to eat healthy food. Use of ovens helps preserve the nutritional qualities of the food.

When ovens were first introduced in the market, not everyone could buy them owing to the expensive tag associated with the same. With time, more and more companies cropped up and stiff competition arose amongst brands. This is the reason why the prices of ovens have come down drastically making them pocket friendly for the common man. Starting from say Rs. 4,000, the price goes up with the additional features and automatic mechanism incorporated. The higher the price, the more advanced will be your system.

There are microwave ovens that can cook four different types of food at the same time with different auto mechanisms for all. Right from simple daal to rice, parantha and pizzas, you can cook everything in today's microwave ovens. And if you buy these electronic devices from an online shopping mall, you can gain a competitive advantage, especially on the money factor. The great discounts offered can help you grab the most advanced one at prices that won't burn a hole in your pocket. So, go online, compare brands of microwave ovens in terms of features and prices and accordingly buy the one that is the best. Once you pay using your credit or debit card, a safe payment gateway, you can receive your product right at your doorstep within the committed time frame. It takes a week or ten days at the most to receive a product.

The heating mechanism of ovens is different from the conventional heating source. Food in microwave ovens gets heated or cooked with the help of microwaves rather than heating coils/rods as used in other electrical heating devices. In the heating process, microwave rays fall directly on the food contents placed in the oven and as per the heating temperature set, change the molecular pattern of the food, converting it into cooked state.

www.emfnews.org www.emfnews.org www.emfnews.org The Office of Technology Assessment of the Congress of the United States recommends a policy of 'prudent avoidance' with respect to EMF. Prudent avoidance means to measure fields, determine the sources, and act to reduce exposure. 1. Detect EMFs in your home and work environment. You have to know where the sources of EMF are in your everyday world and how strong these sources are. Is there wiring in the wall behind your bed that you don't even know about? Is the vaporizer emitting strong fields in the baby's room? How much EMF are you and your family getting from the power lines in the street? Get a meter, share it with your friends, and test the areas where you spend time. 2. Diminish your exposure to the EMFs you find. Remember that EMFs go right through doors and walls. Determine how far you must stay away from the EMF emitters in your home & work environment to achieve less than 2.5 mG of exposure... the microwave oven, the alarm clock, the computer, and so on. Rearrange your furniture (especially the beds, desks, and couches where you spend the most time) away from heaters, wiring, and fluorescent lights, electric doorbells, and other EMF 'hot spots'. Test electrical appliances before you buy with a hand held meter in the store. Know what you are buying and buy the lowest EMF emitter. Where practical, replace your electric appliances with non-electric devices. www.emfnews.org www.emfnews.org

Cooking Appliances

There are so many different types of cooking appliances available on today's market. There are the more traditional range cookers, hobs, built in ovens, double ovens, cooker hoods and the most recent advance in cooking technology- the microwave. All have their advantages and disadvantages and the one that you choose will depend on your preference of style, the size of your kitchen, the space you have available in it and the amount of money that you have to spare on your new cooking appliances.

Microwaves have definitely shaped the way in which we cook over the last couple of decades. Meals that used to take hours to prepare, now can take a matter of minutes with a simple touch of a button and a stir half-way through. Not only do microwaves help you to save on cooking time, but they can also help you to save on your cleaning time too- no more scraping scrambled egg off of your 'non- stick' saucepan after a full English breakfast. Of course, many people like to be able to put a labour of love into cooking family meals and for that, you really need to be using more traditional cooking appliances.

Range cookers look great in a traditional or a contemporary kitchen and have everything that you need combined into one cooking appliance- that is your oven, your grill and your hob all in one. Of course, the colours and styles that are available to you differ between manufacturers. If you do not mind paying a little extra, Britannia has one of the largest selections of colours for cooking appliances and even patterns so that you can fully customise your home to just the way you want it. But there are plenty of more basic options available from dozens of manufacturers in black, white and stainless steel that are still practical, but come with a bit of a smaller price tag.

Range cookers are freestanding cooking appliances, but more and more, people are having their cooking appliances integrated into their design and built in ovens and hobs that are built in to the existing counter look sleek and match easily with the rest of your cooking space, helping you to keep everything coordinated. The main problem that comes with built in ovens is that they are lower down than most freestanding ovens- not great for if you have a bad back- but if you can handle the height then they can really give your kitchen that modern look.

Whether you do decide upon a freestanding range cooker or on a built in oven and hob, there are still more options available to you and they rely almost entirely on your preference when it comes to cooking. The three main choices that you have when choosing a new hob are gas, ceramic and induction, but Domino hobs have been introduced to the cooking appliances market recently as well. Domino hobs allow you to combine different types of hobs into one. For example, you can choose to have two gas burners and two ceramic zones, some manufacturers offer a Chef Top, which is a new and healthy way to cook on the hob and makes your food taste great too.  Gas is still a household favourite because of its controllability, but induction hobs are becoming more and more popular because they are safe and cook food far more efficiently than other types of hob.

Another addition to the contemporary style is the very practical (and often stylish) cooker hood. The cooker (or extractor) hood, like many other modern cooking appliances, comes in a range of different styles, the main ones being canopy hoods, chimney hoods, island chimney hoods and integrated hoods. The job of a cooker hood is basically to ventilate your kitchen for you and to get rid of 'used' air and grease particles. The cooker hood does this by replacing them with fresh air particles. You could do this by leaving a door or window open because of natural air movement, but this is dependant on the air temperatures, which in turn is dependent on the time of the year. For example, in the warmer summer months this process is unlikely to be very effective because there is, in theory, less likely to be a breeze and the air does not feel fresh. But in the winter the natural process is effective, but you are likely to either get very cold or spend a lot of money on heating that is being lost through open doors and windows. This is why a cooker hood is the best option for effectively ventilating and keeping the air fresh.

Cook Easily With Convection Oven

Microwave convection ovens play an important role in today's kitchens. They can be easily operated and are also cost effective. If you use this particular oven, it will not only save your time but will also save energy and money. There are different types of ovens available in the market among which a popular one is GE microwave convection oven. This helps in cooking the food in an even style and it is so easy to operate that school children can also operate it. With this particular device you do not have to use a hot stove for a longer period of time.

Most of the people think cooking as a hard job, but you can make it easy with the help of GE microwave convection oven. While selecting this particular device there are certain things that should be kept in mind so that you can purchase the right kind of oven. The first factor which will help in determining the choice is the budget. They are available in different price ranges. Gas Vs Electric - What's Best For Your New Oven

Before you can see which oven will be best for your home lets explore the benefits of both gas and electric fuel types. Some people will swear by gas or electric and everyone seems to have a preference, but which one will suit you? Well that is something which can easily be discovered.

Sometimes your new oven model will be decided for you, depending on the fuel supply in your area, so before you purchase a new gas or electric oven, make sure that it will be compatible with your home.

There are many advantages of the two oven types, first of all electric ovens are known for their ease of use, also the fact they provide a brilliant even cooking temperature throughout the cavity. Electric ovens come with great features such as being fan assisted - which circulates the air around the appliance and ensures provides great even cooking temperatures. Gas ovens are equally as popular as electric ovens, they keep the food inside the cavity moist and can provide brilliant crisping on top of meals. Bakers swear by gas ovens as cakes and bread come out of the oven with a lighter texture making them moist and delicious.

Electric vs. gas ovens seems to be an ongoing debate - but the beauty of it is is that everyone is different. Why not team your electric oven with a gas hob? Or visa versa. You can enjoy cooking using both fuel types and customise your oven / hob to perform for what you need it for most.

Currently, one of the most popular models for electric is the Hotpoint BD52K double oven, this model boasts some excellent features and has a double cavity meaning you can cook more at once at various temperatures. This flexible electric oven allows you to slow cook and defrost and is reliable and stylish, this oven should be considered by anyone currently looking for an electric double oven. Alternatively, the Stoves 900GDOMk2 gas double oven is a popular choice for those wanting gas. Again this oven has two cavities, meaning more freedom while you cook and with great features such as an included grill pan and knob control types this type of oven is simple to use and practical.

As far as installation is concerned, gas ovens will need to be installed by a Corgi registered engineer, electric ovens should be installed by an electrician. It is important to get your oven fitted correctly by a professional to ensure that it is safe and efficient to use.

So, which oven type will you go for? Really the choice is yours, but be sure to think about what you will use your oven for and this should make the choice between gas and electric so much easier.

Built in Double Ovens - Gas Or Electric?

These days the popular built in double oven is mass produced for consumers in either gas or electric models. Before you begin looking to replace your existing oven with a trendy gas or electric built in oven it will be necessary to first of all decide on what type and model of oven you feel will suit your needs and fits flush with your existing cabinetry.
In this article we will cover the main advantages and disadvantages of having a gas or electric oven.

Gas Oven
One of the main advantages that gas ovens have are they save money on electricity because gas is cheaper to use overall than the cost of electricity. If you are curious about the actual saving that can be made you can often get the exact numbers from the manufacturer. This will then provide you with a comparison between electric and gas ovens based on the information obtained. One disadvantage of gas ovens is that often they do not cook the food evenly and to ensure food is cooked evenly it is often necessary to remove dishes occasionally and turn them around to ensure the entire dish is cooked consistently. In addition it can be costly to get a qualified gas engineer to install gas pipes, fittings and if required a flame failure safety device.

Electric Ovens
One of the main advantages electric ovens have compared to gas ovens is they tend to cook dishes more evenly compared to gas ovens particular the convection style oven that provides even cooking for roast meals up to 25% faster than the traditional oven. Many of the electric ovens these days also have built in fans which helps circulate the warm air around the oven resulting in the whole dish being cooked evenly. Some built in electric ovens have other modern innovations such as a self cleaning mode option that allows the oven to self clean. There is also an innovative "trivection" method of cooking that combines convection, thermal and microwave energy that helps to cook food incredibly quickly to an outstanding standard.
